Devotees assemble by 5.30 PM at Panchikkavu temple (9.427989N, 76.536242E), Perunnai West, Changanacherry and the pilgrimage typically starts by 8.00PM. On the way there will be halts at various historic places including the following temple locations in this path. Total distance of 146 kilometers will be walked up in 6 to 7 days. Return is by car or other means of transport arranged by the individuals. Following is the default route. Very often route will be changed / optimized along the way at the discretion of Guru Swami based on various factors including weather and astrological significance.

This pilgrimage is unique in that it makes you experience going back in time by a century. This is a pure devotional trip with no luxuries. Hence keep no expectations and be prepared to embed yourself in the ecstasy of devotion. People from all walks of life join this devotional trip. Here every one is just another Ayyappa who is in search of Sayoojya.

To reach Panachikkavu Temple, from Changanacherry, travel via MC Road toward Tiruvalla. After NSS Head Quarters, proceed towards Perunnai Subrahmanya temple. From the west gate of the temple, proceed towards Perumpuzhakkadavu. Panchikkavu temple comes about a kilometer later right next to Perunnai West Post office.
